The Lyric Theater's ceiling and proscenium plaster restoration, after Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark ended its Broadway run, required a work platform. Other restoration work needed to proceed at stage level which precluded erecting scaffolding for the plaster work. The solution was a suspended work platform supported from existing rigging points in the theater's front-of-house (FOH) fly grid. To speed the design and assembly and help maintain schedule, off-the-shelf truss from PRG's inventory would be used for framing. Also some rigging points would need to be disconnected and re-connected to allow re-installation of a large center portion of the decorative ceiling. These requirements were met by carefully analyzing the platform for load combinations of workers, equipment, and plaster pieces. To help with staging the work on site, the platform was marked with a grid to clearly indicate the capacity of each area.
