The canopies will provide protection from sun and rain at stations along the Honolulu High-Capacity Transit Corridor Project (HHCTCP). The scope of work included a number of unique canopies, all designed to bring a unified style to each individual station. The canopies have three to six bays covering 150-230 lineal feet of station platform plus guideway. Canopy surface areas range from 3,300 sq ft to 7,500 sq ft. Geiger Engineers designed the fabric, cables, and supporting frames for these graceful canopies. Geiger also provided enhanced value by tailoring the canopies’ structural system in such a way that demand on the guideway platforms which would be designed by others was significantly reduced.
