Excited to share that Geiger Engineers, in partnership with Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, has completed the structural design for the new center-hung videoboard at KeyBank Center, home of the Buffalo Sabres! 🏒
This state-of-the-art videoboard, provided by Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, is nearly twice the size of its predecessor, measuring an impressive 43’x43’x28’. Our team engineered a unique cruciform truss system to support the LED panels, three levels of catwalks, and two additional “belly boards” to enhance the fan experience in the lower seating areas.
One of the key innovations was replacing traditional catwalk guardrails with a vertical safety net system to reduce weight and maintain a clean, modern design. The entire videoboard system, weighing approximately 70,000 lbs, is suspended from a fixed winch, allowing for easy lowering during maintenance.
This project was an exciting challenge, and we’re proud to have worked alongside Mitsubishi Electric Power Products to contribute to the upgrades at KeyBank Center, improving the fan experience with the new board. Big thanks to everyone involved!
