Zoo Miami engaged Geiger Engineers to design a roof canopy as part of the significant renovation of their Sami Family Amphitheater. The roof canopy covers the venue's seating which can accommodate over 800 spectators. The semi-circular canopy is comprised of a deep truss spanning over the seating area and face of the stage with five trusses, each 106 ft (32 m) long, spanning radially from its center hub out to the perimeter columns. The exposed white metal deck on top provides protection from rain and direct sun and gives a light and cool feel to the space.
