10 North Virginia Plaza Canopy

Reno, Nevada — 2006
10 North Virginia Plaza is an urban park in downtown Reno on the Truckee River. Geiger Engineers designed a 19,000 sq ft (1,765 sq m) cable-stayed canopy that would cover the ice rink, since built, in winter and a proposed 3,500 seat amphitheater in summer. The canopy's tensile membrane panels are supported by a radial cable truss with timber struts and a glulam structural wood and steel compression ring.
